This morning after breakfast you will be met by your safari guide and depart by road to Sinya, a 138,000 acre private wildlife conservancy in a remote area on the west side of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Its flood plains, hills, acacia woodland and spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, give life to one of the most beautiful, pristine, wild areas of Northern Tanzania. This is Maasai land, the arid land of Sinya. It is one of the few areas in Africa where you will see huge bull elephants, some more than 50 years old with huge tusks. Some of these bulls live permanently in the area and others migrate, together with herds of mothers and calves, between the adjacent Amboseli National Park in Kenya - in search of water and food. Most of them have been monitored by Cynthia Moss in Amboseli for more than 25 years and form one of the healthiest and most balanced Elephant populations of on the continent. The Maasai people of Sinya still follow the traditional ways. They are friendly and unexposed to the commercial relationship with tourists that is common in some areas. The conservancy land is leased from several local tribes, so your stay here helps preserve the area for the wildlife and generates funds for schools and medical needs

While at Sinya you’ll spend two nights at Kambi ya Tembo, a small luxury tented camp with exclusive use of the conservancy. Each of the 10 luxury thatch roofed tents has an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and solar powered hot shower and a private verandah. The dining room, bar and lounge are housed in a dramatic thatched roofed structure with a spectacular view of the conservancy.

Activities while at Kambi ya Tembo include game drives,, night game drives, hikes and walks escorted by Maasai trackers. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Maasai bomas and experience the weekly Tuesday “market day”.

After lunch and some time to relax, depart on a game drive or guided walk. Return for drinks around the camp fire and dinner.

This morning you will depart– driving south through Arusha town and continuing down the rift to Tarangire National Park - Tanzania’s third largest. Here you’ll find a diverse geologic landscape, with nine distinct vegetation zones. Ancient Baobab trees dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River, that meanders through the park attracts an abundance of wildlife, from elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and numerous antelope to a variety of colorful birds. During the dry season thousands of elephants gather in the area.

Your accommodations for the next two nights will be at Lake Burunge Tented Camp. The camp is located on the west side of the Tarangire, on the shores of Lake Burunge. It consists of 16 luxury tents that overlook the lake. Built on an elevated wooden deck, each luxury tent has either twin or king size bed, comfortable wooden furniture and an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet, sink and hot shower, which is solar heated. The sun also provides 220v electricity. The dining rooms and lounge are housed large main building built of wood and thatch overlooking the lake. After some time to get acquainted, depart on an afternoon walk with Maasai guides and return in time to freshen up before dinner.

Awaken early and enjoy a sunrise breakfast before departing for an all day game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire has a diverse landscape , with nine vegetation zones. Ancient Baobab trees dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River, that meanders through the park attracts an abundance of wildlife, from elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, antelope to a variety of colorful birds.

With a stop for a picnic lunch, continue game viewing and when you are ready – return to camp. This afternoon you can take a walk with the Maasai guides or just relax on the verandah of your tent. Enjoy a sundowner around the campfire before dinner.

Depart after breakfast and drive across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. Although only 205 sq. miles in size this enchanting park is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees, which are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. The park is also home to large numbers of buffalo, giraffe, elephant, hippo, impala and the Hippo Pool, where large numbers usually gather. Well known for its birds (over 400 species), Lake Manyara is one of the few places you will see the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle.

After a short game drive continue up the escarpment driving through small villages and passing small farms on the way to the beautiful Tloma Lodge which is situated on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Highlands on beautiful farmland. 20 luxury cottages are spread amongst flower gardens with views of the surrounding hills and farms.

After lunch if you want to get some exercise you can take a swim in the saltwater swimming pool or walk through the farm. You can also visit a local primary school or the town of Karatu.

Descend down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing. After a stop for a picnic lunch and more wildlife viewing, drive up the steep road out of the crater and back to Tloma Loge, arriving in the late afternoon.

Today you’re off to the famous Serengeti National Park, home of the “great migration”. Your drive today is spectacular as you drive up the crater highlands – stopping at the rim for a birds-eye view of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Continuing on, as you crest the hillside, spread out before you, as far as the eye can see, is the vast Serengeti. Serengeti means “endless plains” in Kiswahili and this 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) park is inhabited by more than 2 million large animals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles. Large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey which migrate throughout the park. Many smaller animals – rock hyrax, bat eared foxes, mongoose, honey badger, jackals, monkeys, baboon and African hare inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds.

On the way into the Serengeti you will stop at the famous “Oldupai Gorge”, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey made their discovery of early man. After attending a short lecture describing the archeological digs and geology of the gorge, you’ll have time to visit the small museum before continuing to your camp where you’ll spend the next three nights under canvas.

Your stay in the Serengeti will be at the Serengeti Seasonal Mobile Camp – a seasonal tented camp which is moved to take advantage of the movement of the migratory herds within Serengeti ecosystem. The camp consists of 8 large walk-in tents that are furnished with beds, linens and en-suite facilities with flush loo’s and hot bush showers. Each tent has a shaded verandah with chairs and a table. There is also a dinning tent for meals and socializing with the other guests and camp staff.

After enjoying lunch, you will depart on an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. Return to the camp in time to freshen up and enjoy a sundowner around the campfire before dinner.
